About the Event
Jonathan Stuhlman, Ph.D., Senior Curator of American Art at the Mint Museum, will lead a tour of The Art of Seating: 200 Years of American Design for DavidsonLearns members. The Art of Seating features chairs sat on by presidents, chairs that were thrown from skyscrapers and chairs designed by renowned makers, including George Hunzinger, the Stickley Brothers, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Charles and Ray Eames. Demonstrating that a chair can be much more than just a place to sit, the exhibition reveals chairs as works of art that tell stories of United States history from the early 19th century to the early 21st century. Following the tour, explore the rest of the Mint’s exhibitions at your leisure.
